IEA ANNEX 33 Result Workshop: FEN Research presented the Methodology of Neighborhoods Simulation

On April 25, 2024, Nikolaus Fleischhacker from FEN Research GmbH delivered a presentation “Simulation of neighborhoods – Methodology” as the research member of WIVA P&G at the IEA AFC TCP Annex 33 Result Workshop, organized by the Austrian Energy Agency.

The ANNEX 33 project aims to analyze the decentralized hydrogen concepts with fuel cells in climate-neutral neighborhoods or renewable energy communities.

In this project, FEN Research mainly focused on comparing and contrasting currently available tools for modeling and simulating the energy balance of districts and their ability to include hydrogen-based solutions, in a decentralized manner.

The “Power on Demand” and “Power to Hydrogen” processes were part of the presentation. These two essential processes for the reconstruction of energy systems towards climate neutrality and energy autonomy have been systematically researched at the EWest Research Laboratory and the HyWest Research Laboratory, both located at the Green Energy Center Europe in Innsbruck. Moreover, the processes have been consistently implemented through concrete projects by the Codex Partnership of the Green Energy Center Europe such as the European Research and Innovation (R&I) Project Demo4Grid and the Austrian Research and Development (R&D) flagship project WIVA P&G HyWest.
